Question:

Runner A crosses the starting line of a marathon and runs at an average pace of 5.6 miles per hour. Half an hour later, Runner B crosses the starting line and runs at an average rate of 6.4 miles per hour. If the length of the marathon is 26.2 miles, which runner will finish ahead of the other?Explain.
Ok, is the equation this:
5.6+6.4(x+30)=26.2
If not, can you help me?

Answers

The product of two and a number is 14. what is the number.

The distance both ran is the same.

distanceA=5.6*time
distanceB=6.4*(time-.5)

Set these equal, then solve for time when they meet.

Go back to the distance equation and verify it is less than 26 miles. Who uses miles for marathons any more?.

2 times 7 = 14.
