Problem using [f(x+h)-f(x)] / h ?

Question:

f(x)=4x^(2)

Answers

#(f(x+h)-f(x))/h=8x+4h#

Explanation:

As #f(x)=4x^2#

#f(x+h)=4(x+h)^2=4(x^2+2hx+h^2)=4x^2+8hx+4h^2#

and therefore #(f(x+h)-f(x))/h#

= #(4x^2+8hx+4h^2-4x^2)/h#

= #(8hx+4h^2)/h#

= #8x+4h#
