A fish in a flat-sided aquarium sees a can of fish food on the counter. To the fish's eye, the can looks to be 46 cm outside the aquarium. What is the actual distancebetween the can and the aquarium?

Answers

This is optics related problem.
As the fish sees from the aquarium then the light ray bends away from the normal.
Then the apparent distance is more than actual distance.
Then refractive index of the water in aquarium
is n = apparent distance / actual distance
apparent distance = 46 cm
n = 1.33 for water
Then 1.33 = 46 cm / actual distance
Then actual distance = 34.586 cm
