Question:

Four masses, m1 = 5.30 kg, m2 = 4.10 kg, m3 = 9.30 kg, m4 = 4.10 kg, are hanging from the ceiling as shown. They are connected to each other with ropes. What is thestring tension in the rope connecting the masses m1 and m2?

Answers

since m1 is at top and then m2, m3, m4

the tension in m1 rope is (m1+m2+m3+m4)*g = 228 N

and tension in m2 rope(it doesn't have effect of m1,because m1 is above the rope)so it is (m2+m3+m4)*g = 175 N
