The first goals of motor behavior is to understand how people learn motor skills, processes feedback, improve learning or performance, and how the selection and execution of different motor skills to become more effective and efficient in different types of physical activity. A researcher studying how a infant learns how to walk or do cretin action. Second goal is to understand how motor skill are being controlled by people. How the environment effects the choices the individual makes. Factors that affect the mechanisms of response selection and execution. Researchers could study athletes on how they control their action during a game. A basketball player could be studied to know how he controls dribbling through out them game. Other skill could be how they control their shots. Researchers can study the difference between 2 point from 3 point shots. Third goal is to understand how both the learning and controlling of motor skills would change across the life span. An example of this would be how a infant's capability of learning to the learning capability of a young child. An infant might follow what the teacher is showing them, but do not fully understand why they need to do this action, so they lack the control of motor skill, while a young child is thought a skill he or she would try new things to connect their new skill with the skills that they already knew. Also their learning speed is different as well. An infant would take in information very quickly while a young child might need little more repetition of lesson to fully learn a skill.
