An aquarium holds 6 1/4 gallons of water

Question:

An aquarium holds 6 1/4 gallons of water. The water level has dropped to 4/5 of this amount. How much water should be added to fill the aquarium?

Answers

If the question read that the aquarium held 5 gallons of water and the water level had been reduced to 1/2 of that, How much water would be in it then? How did you figure that out? Now whats left to do is to subtract the amount you just got from 5 and that would be how much water is needed.

Do you think you can figure out how to do the problem now?.
