Answers

The alternative policy option and evaluation of cervical cancer

These includes prevention and control methods. They are pap smear tests for every 5 years, visual inspection using acetic acid(VIA) and human papillomavirus vaccination(HPV).

The compelling factor is to recommend vacination for adolescent girls prior to sexual activity. Some studies in United States showed there are significant barriers to consider for the lower vaccination rates. These are socioeconomic background, health insurance, lack of awareness for parents and physicians lack of comfort to discuss about sexuality and vaccination.

After 2010, the funding issues in United States with any of health insurance was resolved due to the Affordable Care Act as it states that any person can receive HPV irrespective of their insurance policies without paying additional cost or co-pay. The other opportunities in policy alternatives of cervical cancer is by educating and improving the awareness on importance of HPV vaccination.

This intervention can be implemented at schools and clinics by educating adolescent girls and parents on the incidence and risk of cervical cancer.
